The Process
A closer look at how Round Door Workshop designs, embroiders, finishes, and ships each made-to-order garment.
At Round Door Workshop, we don’t do fast fashion. We’re a small workshop in Sydney, and our stitch-to-order model means every garment is handled with intention from start to finish.
In-House Design & Testing
Every design starts right here on the bench. We don’t buy generic stock files or mass-produced templates; we manually create and digitise every piece ourselves. Once a design is drawn, we run multiple test stitches on real fabric, tweaking and refining the stitch path and tension until the embroidery lies flat and stitches cleanly.
The Shirt
Embroidery needs a heavyweight, high-quality shirt. We have chosen the AS Colour Classic tee for all our designs. These garments have the structural integrity to support dense embroidery without puckering or pulling, ensuring the final piece feels as premium as the artwork on it.
Stitching to Order
We don’t keep racks of pre-decorated stock collecting dust. When you place an order, we hoop up a blank and stitch the design specifically for you. This small-batch approach allows us to monitor the machine’s progress closely, maintaining a level of precision that high-volume factories simply can’t touch.
Finishing & Quality Control
Once the embroidery is complete, the work isn’t done. We move to the finishing bench to manually trim jump threads and remove the stabilizer backing by hand. Every single item goes through a final inspection to ensure the stitching is clean, the fabric is pristine, and the piece meets our standard before it goes anywhere near our packaging.
Local Dispatch
Your order is folded, packed, and prepped right here in our Sydney studio for transit across Australia. Because we only stitch what is ordered, we eliminate textile waste and make sure your garment is fresh off the frame and built to outlast the fast fashion cycle.
