About Us
The story behind Round Door Workshop, our Sydney embroidery studio, and the care behind every stitch.
Round Door Workshop is a small embroidery studio based in Sydney, Australia. We specialise in stitch-to-order and small-batch embroidered apparel for people who appreciate understated everyday designs.
The story behind Round Door Workshop
As a gamer who grew up with Nintendo, PlayStation and PC gaming, I wore the usual gamer uniform: lots of black and screen-printed DTG tees of questionable quality. The designs were often loud, oversized and splashed with bold colours. Now that I’m older, I want something more grown-up, subtle and appropriate for everyday wear, including at work.
Looking around, I found that I needed to pick one of the following:
- A plain, mass-market basic tee that was decent quality but lacked any personality
- A branded graphic tee with all its budget allocated to licensing and marketing
I wanted the best of both worlds: a well-made shirt that would last, with a little personality and a nod to my hobbies and interests.
This is why I started Round Door Workshop. The shirts we sell are the shirts I wear myself every day.
Small Sydney workshop
Every shirt is embroidered in our small Sydney workshop. We place each shirt in an embroidery machine and hand-finish it by trimming the threads and cutting away excess stabilizer. Each shirt is made to order, so you can be sure it is made specifically for you.
The shirts we use
We use AS Colour Classic Tees (5026) for all our designs. One brand, one shirt. We chose this shirt after testing many different brands and styles. We chose it for its high-quality, heavyweight cotton and classic fit. It takes embroidery well and lasts.
Our designs
Each of our designs is a nod to something nerdy. We love fantasy, video gaming and tabletop gaming. They are all original, subtle and understated. We invite you to browse our current designs.
